The latest generation of the Toyota RAV4 was designed following the trend that many modern cars share: reducing buttons and switches to a minimum. Some functions, such as adjusting the climate control fan speed, have been moved to the central display, while temperature and volume still retain dedicated controls.

According to Yoshinori Futonagane, responsible for the development of the model, the possibility of bringing back some physical buttons remains open and will depend on the preferences expressed by motorists during the first months of marketing.

Mazda, however, has chosen the opposite path with the new CX-5, entrusting most of the functions to voice commands and buttons on the steering wheel.
